Can someone explain to me why the Jonas Brothers aren't "real music"??

  • It makes no sense to me.

    1. They write their own music and they do a darn good job at it too!
    2. They play their own instruments.
    3. They have amazing voices.
    4. They actually sing live in concert instead of lipsyncing.

    Maybe its not your type of music, but tons of girls ((myself included)) love it. What's wrong with that??

    If you don't think they are real music, please tell me why.


  • I kno, right!! They're amazing! And dont forget that they're teenagers,like me, and do that!! Plus, they have amazing concerts and good looks!

  • Yeah yeah your 1 2 3 4 are all true but the music just isn't good. First of all, their voices are nasally and bad in my opinion. They try too hard to look and act cool and their band targets mainly adolescent girls. Their music doesn't mean anything. Sure it's catchy enough but it doesn't make you feel anything and it's just cutesy and pop-ish. I suppose it's fine to like them if you like that kind of thing, but a lot of people just don't. Also, many people resent their association with Disney, as do I.


  • ignore what the jonas haters say .. they have their own opinions. the jo bros music is as real as real gets and i love it.. their music inspires me as well as others but theres people out there who are gonna put them down.. all you need to do is ignore it because the jonas brothers are doing great because of us.. the fans who love them and support them .. if people disagree with your thoughts.. let them it shudnt bother you.


  • because they arent about music, theyre about branding. disney uses them, just like all of their self made stars.


  • I am violently opposed to pop culture and i think their music sucks. They sing like girls. I do not like their song writing style.
    Plus, they are UGLY!!!


  • because they are force fed to you by crap tv such as disney. they can be replaced at the drop of a hat. they lip sync, they're fake. ..anything like britney spears, miley cirus, jonas brothers, tisdale, and similar singers who were once singing on some tv shows are an instant fail, and aren't seen as real talent in the eyes of the music industry. they're only good for sucking the money out of parents whose children don't know any better.

  • It's not just boys. I'm a girl and I'm a Anti-Jonas. Most of it does stink(alot of it does).


  • Re 1: That is a matter of opinion. A lot of people would disagree about the quality. I definitely think that the songs they've written are better than their covers, but their lyrics are cheesy. Compare what they've written to Iron Maiden whose songs are intellectual AND sound cool. There is no comparison really.

    Re 2 (and kind of 4, I guess): A friend who went to a Jonas Brothers concert (she's a die-hard fan) told me she didn't think they were actually playing. I can't confirm that for sure, but she said it didn't look like Kevin's hand was anywhere near the strings.

    Re 3: Nick's voice is extremely nasally and irritating. It hurts my ears to listen to him sing.

    If you want to know how Disney "uses" them, look at the way they are being marketed. It is beyond excessive. They are everywhere.

    Most "real" bands don't have all of the focus on their looks. You can say it's about the music all you like, but making the tickets on Kevin's side of the stage cheaper and putting Nick in that skin-tight wet suit in their video certainly makes it seem like it's about something other than the music. The first thing their fans usually mention about them is how "hot" one of them is.

    The thing that annoys me most about them is the way they pretend to be so perfect. It's deceptive and gives young girls impossible-to-meet expectations about what REAL men are like. I have met girls who honestly believed that the Jonas Brothers do not look at porn or swear or drink (the "OMJ IT'S APPLE JUICE" responses to the picture of Joe supposedly drinking prove that point pretty well). Frankly, that's ridiculous. They don't seem to understand that real men do these things, even nice men who will treat you well and care about you. The way the Jonas Brothers act in interviews, that's fantasy. It's the same as the pressure that's put on women to be super sexy all of the time. If a guy told you that your boobs were too small and he wished they were bigger, you would probably consider him a jerk, but if a girl tells her boyfriend that he isn't "sensitive" enough and that he should act more like Nick Jonas, she just has "high standards." The way this lie gets perpetuated so much by the media makes it difficult for young girls to have real relationships. This goes beyond obsession into delusion territory.

    Sorry it got tl;dr. I got carried away.

    P.S. 88% of people who make those purity pledges break them. Chances are the Jonas Brothers will. Build a bridge and get over it.


  • Okay, so your trying to say that other bands don't write their own music and play their own instruments. Your dumb. They don't have "amazing" voices. Whats wrong with little 11 year old girls liking the Jonas brother, here's why:
    1. You guys never shut up, its on and on about them.

    Seriously I can tell the Jonas Brothers want to be rock instead of R&B, wow have you ever listened of Metallica, Nirvana, Dead Kennedys, or WolfMother . I guess not. Listen to their music and compare it to Jonas Brothers. So shut up, and go write in your little diary
