Websites of the Future will not be Static Its so easy to set-up a website and then just leave it up there like a glorified online brochure. I know because Ive done it! The standard home - about me - services - contact us format will soon be lost amongst the millions of websites out there. Not only are the main search engines more and more rewarding fresh content, but what reason have your visitors to return to your site? And of those who do visit, how many names and email addresses do you capture to build an ongoing business relationship with. Plus do you really think you are standing out?

There are other factors too that drive the need for you to rethink your website, including:

Your competitors web sites. Ask yourself if their web sites are better than yours. I use Google search + RSS feeds regularly to constantly remind myself just how busy some are out there! Plus how well is your website optimized for local search as opposed to theirs? More and more people are using the web to find things.

Your website looks dated . Technology keeps moving forward, and what looked great a few years ago is now out of step with todays design standards. For instance, do you have audio, video and RSS feeds? Maybe your business message has changed too and your website is no longer a clear reflection of your core business proposition? Even the biggest of brands update their brand over time. Perhaps too youve developed a deeper understanding of what your clients are looking for, and /or some of the problems that they might have encountered on your site. You need to factor those elements into a redesign that more effectively caters to your chosen target market.

Your website lacks content: More and more web tools allow the site owner to easily update their content. Your own blog (wordpress is the best) is increasingly a must. Or heres a free website builder software that comes with 100+ professional templates, a full user guide and a complete set of video tutorials to hand hold you to creating your own website from scratch. You need to increase your sites visibility. If your original site was developed with little consideration to findability , a redesign with new content will raise your sites search engine rankings and inbound link attraction factor.

You re one of an enlightened few! You realise there are additional passive revenue streams available to todays professionals than simply trading time for money. Information products can become an extra income stream or a major business in its own right. You can start with inexpensive reports and move on to eBooks and other information products. Indeed there are an increasing number of ways in which you can demonstrate your expertise online and create additional revenue streams in doing so. The longer youre online, the easier this gets.

To sum-up, year-end is always a good time to take another look at your website and prepare for the new year. And please if you dont yet have a website, dont be the last to go online! As your business will have suffered many times unduly long before then.
